Chumani

Chumani é uma palavra sioux que significa "gota de orvalho". Escolhi-a... porque gosto dela, e evidentemente por todas as imagens que evoca. No Zen, temos o livro "Moon in a Dewdrop" (A Lua numa Gota de Orvalho), de Dogen: "Enlightenment is like the moon reflected on the water. The moon does not get wet, nor is the water broken. Although its light is wide and great, the moon is reflected even in a puddle an inch wide. The whole moon and the entire sky are reflected in dewdrops on the grass, or even in one drop of water." A Iluminação é como a lua reflectida na água. A lua não se molha, nem a água é perturbada. Embora a sua luz seja vasta, a lua reflecte-se até mesmo no charco mais minúsculo. Toda a lua e todo o céu se reflectem em gotas de orvalho na erva ou numa única gota de água.

Noutro passo: "Know that in this way there are myriads of forms and hundreds of grasses throughout the entire earth, and yet each grass and each form itself is the entire earth. The study of this is the beginning of practice." Sabei que nesta via há uma multitude de formas e centenas de ervas em toda a terra, todavia, cada erva e cada forma em si é toda a terra. Este estudo é o princípio da prática.

E depois: "Each moment is all being, is the entire world. Reflect now whether any being or any world is left out of the present moment." Cada momento é todo o ser, é o mundo inteiro. Reflecte agora se algum ser ou algum mundo é deixado de fora no momento presente.
